Here is a list of the best of the best eco friendly spots around the island for everything that’s vegan, vegetarian, gluten free or organic either complete menu's or healthy options offered.

Crate Café is a super cool place open for breakfast, lunch and coffee and is located on Jalan Batu Bolong in the popular surf spot of Canggu. The menu is simple but delightful and they have a great range of healthy options including many flavour variations of the smoothie bowl.

Cafe Organic

If there is one “trendy” healthy cafe in Bali… it's Cafe Organic. Just take one look at their huge instagram profile and you will see why. Their food is the definition of beautiful. Located in central Canggu, it is easy to get to. Their menu is expansive and they also sell some whole food products as well as a selection of grab and go cakes and treats. You can often queue to get into the cafe so be sure to arrive early in the morning to avoid this. The food is extremely instagram-able and equally as delicious. I enjoyed the Acai Coco bowl which came in a fresh coconut.

Milk & Madu

Fresh & vibrant open air Bali brunch spot. The dishes are healthy, vibrant and super fresh, and the open air restaurant space is bright and breezy. The menu is so extensive, too many good options, the hardest part will be deciding what to eat!

A health food cafe serving happy, nutritious and delicious food. Its also a popular hangout for expats in the area, the cafe is nearby Echo Beach. There’s a hippy-chic vibe at this thatched cafe with a mellow open-air dining room upstairs overlooking rice fields. For those who are nostalgic for the days when you had to know where to find those small restaurants that were especially good, this is a place that will take you back in time. They serve Mexican and Greek-style dishes with a great portions for a very decent price. As for drink they have natural energy shots to energize your day!

Shady Shack

This is by far one of my favourite cafes in Bali. It has an amazing and extensive menu which can be eaten in or taken away. It ranges from huge colourful salad bowls to super stacked burgers and everything in between. Oh and not forgetting a ridiculous amount of healthy desserts. I tucked into the Shack attack burger and the Nori bowl both insanely delicious but also big servings too. I also shared a vegan apple bundt cake for dessert which was ridiculously tasty plus it came with caramel sauce and a serving of coconut yoghurt.

Nalu Bowls

Nalu bowls are seriously hyped up on social media, so I just had give them a go. Nalu bowl cafes are attached onto other healthy eateries across Bali, so there is bound to be one close to where you're staying. They have a small menu of about 5-6 smoothie bowls which come with pre-set toppings. You can add extras and switch up ingredients to your liking. My favourite was the peanut butter one. Good god. It tasted like melting peanut butter. With crunchy granola. And fresh banana slices. It was a little bowl of heaven!

Nude cafe Canggu is sited in a Javanese joglo with a stunning rice field view. Nude offers a whole lot of breakfast, lunch and dinner, with healthy options.

This is a lesser-known cafe but one of Bali's best spots for brunch. The service is crazy fast! It has great wifi and indoor seating which is perfect for settling down to work; while the outdoor tables are great for watching the world go by. It has a unique menu and is sure to delight anyone's tastebuds.

The Spicy Coconut

The Spicy Coconut is a vegan cafe located in Seminyak not far from Batu Belig Beach. It has cute (and very instagram-able) decor with rustic wooden tables and chairs and a cosy corner full of comfortable sofas and colourful cushions. The menu ranges from smoothie bowls to chickpea burgers, with a larger selection of breakfasts than lunches. I highly reccommend the smashed avo and the dragon bowl amongst my favourite menu items.

Divine Earth

Bali's Premier Raw & Vegan Fine Dining Restaurant. Into your meal go only the most nutrient-packed ingredients lovingly grown by environmentally conscious farmers. Everything about this place is true to what they believe in raw, delicious and nutritious food that will leave you happy and fulfilled.

They offer all day breakfast food, which is great for those days where you sleep in. So I tucked into the classic meal of smashed avocado on toast with feta. Yes, I am a cliche and yes it was damn tasty. The setting was lovely, the service was fast and the staff were friendly. However, do be prepared for more western prices rather than the usual lower costs you get in the other cafes in Bali; which is reflected in the food quality and presentation.
