Op shopping has always been a love of mine since I was young and through the years I have come across some of the best op shops Australia wide. Knowing where to find treasures and a multitude of beautiful preloved fashion can be a challenge especially in Sydney. I thought I would share with you all my list of the best op shops in Sydney to help guide you on where to find those special vintage and preloved fashion pieces. Pictured below thrifted outfit from the Wayside Op shop.

If you’ve got an eye for bargains and a taste for vintage, you can’t go past Wayside’s Op Shops. Wayside now has two Op Shops in the eastern suburbs – bringing you an even larger, more curated range of eclectic fashion finds at a bargain.

Packed with clothes, jewellery and kitsch delights, their Op Shops are a favourite of fashionistas looking for quirky one-offs and affordable designs. Dinnigan, Gucci and Sass & Bide – donated by some of Wayside’s very well dressed supporters – nestle amongst more humble brand names and handmade items. Whether you are looking for a classic shirt, jeans, leather boots, a festival outfit or a designer silk lace slip dress (seriously), the Op Shop is bound to have something to suit your style.

Shoppers have the added benefit of knowing that every dollar spent goes straight towards offering services to those in the community who are most in need. They accept donations of clothes, jewellery, homewares and shoes but they DO NOT accept electrical items or very large clothing donations.

Red Cross charity stores have more than 4,500 fabulous volunteers who help their stores to run. Without them, we wouldn't be able to save 450 tonnes of clothing from landfill per year, or raise money to help fund Red Cross' humanitarian activities around the world.

Their stores are entirely run by the goodwill of people who generously give their time. Volunteers are provided with training opportunities that include customer service, cash register use, stock preparation and visual merchandising.

This Paddington store is filled with a lovely selection from vintage to preloved to dead sale stock sent direct from brands that haven't been worn or are slightly defected but still in almost perfect condition. With a frequent range of designer brand items available from International brands such as vintage Salvatore Ferragamo to Australian brands such as Zimmermann and Country Road you are sure to find a few hidden treasures and bargain finds.

Nothing like a good rummage in search of a vintage treasure. These secondhand and recycled clothing stores aren't fancy, but they aren't expensive either. A bit more upmarket than your average op shop but not pretending to be glam in any way, it's a good place to hunt for something stylish everyone else might have missed.
