Emily Kate Symes is an eco ambassador, model, designer turned entrepreneur and sustainability expert. Emily's popular blog EKO & LUX and online store EKOLUV follow her passion toward a more eco-friendly and socially responsible way of living. Emily aims to raise awareness, of the social and environmental impacts the fashion industry has on our panet and what we can do to effect change.
Emily is a passionate social, environmental and animal rights activist and a member of the Fellowship 500 an initiative of the Ethical Fashion Forum, uniting 500 pioneering innovators in Fashion and Sustainability, Globally. Emily's love of Vintage, Ethical and Sustainable Fashion fuelled the idea to start her own boutique giving consumers the choice to shop more consciously without having to compromise on quality or style. Every purchase helps to empower women through opportunity through the organisations EKOLUV is partnered with. EKOLUV was recently chosen as a Finalst in the Ethical Fashion Forum's 2013 Global Awards For Sustainable Fashion.
In 2014 Emily was announced as an official 'Nature Champion' for the Places You Love Alliance under The Australian Conservation Foundation where she helps spread awareness of the importance of protecting our precious environment and the places we love. Emily's story and her message of eco fashion and protection for the environment was presented at the IUCN World Parks Congress in Sydney, a landmark global forum on protected areas.
Emily regularly hosts and presents Eco fashion events including the Sustainable Fashion Show for World Environment Day in 2013. Emily was also an ambassador for one of the first Health and Wellness Congress's in Asia where she worked closely with WOW (Wellness Organisation Worldwide) leading those to a more healthier and happier lifestyle. Emily has been featured in various eco publications such as Peppermint and Vilda magazines and works closely with many Eco Fashion designers and brands to bring awareness of the importance of Eco Friendly and Fair Trade Fashion. She lives a sustainable lifestyle where possible and believes in positive social change through the empowerment of women, by way of education and opportunity.
